Road Tripping from Iași to Greece: Our Adventure-Seeking Journey

For us, travel is all about the thrill of discovery and the joy of exploring new places. We’re not the type to stay in one spot for too long – we crave the dopamine rush that comes from experiencing something new every day. One of our favorite adventures is the road trip from our hometown, Iași, Romania, to the breathtaking beaches of Greece. Here’s how we make this exciting journey with a child in tow.

Starting the Adventure: Hitting the Road from Iași

We kick off our trip in the late afternoon, leaving Iași with the excitement of the open road ahead of us. Traveling at this time works perfectly for us – the kid settles into the car, and as night falls, he drifts off to sleep, making the journey smooth and peaceful. We take turns driving, switching every 2-3 hours to keep things fresh and ensure we’re both energized for the trip.

The Route: From Iași to the Sun-Kissed Beaches of Greece

Our route is well-planned for both efficiency and enjoyment. We take the shortest path, crossing through Ruse in Bulgaria and then entering Greece via the Makaza crossing. It takes between 12 and 13 hours. Once we’re in Greece, the journey becomes a pleasure cruise. The highways are clear, and the national roads are scenic, offering us glimpses of the country’s stunning landscapes as we drive toward our first destination. We love to through Vistonia Lagoon and admire the monastery on the water.

First Stops: Nea Vrasna and Paralia Dyonisus

Since we love to explore, we rarely stay in one place for long. Our first stop is usually Nea Vrasna, where we spend a day or two unwinding on the beach and soaking up the local atmosphere. From there, we move on to Paralia Dyonisus. This spot is ideal for us because it’s centrally located, giving us easy access to the three arms of the Chalkidiki peninsula. We can explore a different part of this beautiful region every day, satisfying our need for new experiences.

The Joy of Exploration: Discovering Chalkidiki

One of the highlights of our trips is always a visit to Afytos. This charming village, perched on the Kassandra arm of Chalkidiki, is a treasure trove of new experiences. Whether we’re wandering through its cobblestone streets, discovering hidden beaches, or enjoying a meal with a view of the turquoise sea, Afytos never fails to excite us.

Embracing the Unknown: What’s Next?

After exploring Chalkidiki, we love to keep our plans open. We might decide to head further south, explore a different part of the mainland, or even catch a ferry to one of the islands. The flexibility of our road trip allows us to chase that thrill of discovering something new, wherever the road might take us.

For us, traveling is about more than just reaching a destination – it’s about the journey, the experiences, and the memories we create along the way.

So if you’re a fellow traveler with a passion for exploration, consider hitting the road with a car to Greece. You never know what new experiences are waiting just around the corner.

Happy exploring! 🚗✨
